I was just completing the CommonApp when I noticed a little red clock next to Harvard's deadline. Other colleges had blanks, which I don't quite understand.

The deadline is 1/1/14, which is 5 days far. Can I still apply ? Am I late ? Does the CommonApp take time to reach colleges .. I mean, will someone be fine if they clicked the submit button an hour before midnight EST of the deadline date ?

Guys, excuse me but I have to ask about this.

50 people have seen this thread but none of you could just comfort someone in need with anything you knew.

You’re upset at a bunch of total strangers after the passage of 90 minutes? Like no one has better stuff to do on Christmas? Really?

A deadline is a deadline, simple and not difficult to figure out. If you are that stressed and couldn’t handle the pressure, why wait until now to work on your app? The common app and the Harvard supplement were up and running more than 4 months ago.

You think you can’t apply when the deadline is still more than 5 days (actually 7 days) away?

The clock simply means that the deadline is near :)

Everyone doesn’t have to be so nasty to the OP. He/she asked a legitimate question. Yes, you can still apply until the day of the deadline, but certain parts of your application, like test scores, can take like 2 weeks to get sent to schools. Most colleges are lenient about this one though.
