<p>What it means is that they just realized that the mail cycle was screwed up due to the placement of the holiday in the week (Saturday) and that a lot of kids would be caught off guard.</p>

<p>They would rather give people another week than 1) miss out on the chance to get some smart kids who might be applying late, or 2) have hundreds of kids whining about missing the deadline.</p>

<p>i do believe they or one of the other colleges I applied to last year extended their deadline. I believe it was Cornell, though not too sure.</p>

<p>no. unless you have a picture of yourself getting run over by a cornell catering truck, and now in a stage 9 coma at the hospital, you're not getting any slack. you can however, probably petition to do a test/paper EARLIER (so you can go home earlier) and that might work out. a lot of grandparents seem to die around final time.</p>
