I was wondering if taking redbull before the sat would highten your senses and make you more aware. This could be useful for the ACT because i need plenty of stamina. I have never had redbull only monster and that was kind of weak.

I say no. It makes you super hyper and then it goes away and you could potentially crash and fall asleep. It doesn't do that to me only because I drink so much coffee but it's not a focused hyperness, it like "WHOOOO i don't want to do anything!!!" If you're that worried take like adderall or ridalin which I don't condone. It's illegal.

i say yes....i take redbull anyday i have a huge test and i dnt wanna fall asleep to while i study in my hour bus ride to the school....it really helps me and last me a long time..from about 6-11:30am., but thats for me. It might be different for you. Yo have to experiment and see which way you get a higher score and if your body can handle the sudden caffene rush like said above.

you'd be better off just getting a good night's sleep.

you also should know how you respond to caffeine. if it makes you jittery or easily distracted or if you're going to crash, red bull would be a bad idea.

whatever you do, don't use adderall, ritalin etc. that's illegal and it's cheating.

I think the majority of people who use it don't need it. It doesn't make you do better anyways. It's not going to store information in your head nor does it allow you to recall it any better. It does allow you to concentrate which is difficult for a lot of people. Who can really sit still for 4+ hours and focus?

The best way to focus on the SAT is getting much needed rest. I had about 9 hours of sleep the day before and I felt pumped during the test. After the 4 hour ordeal, I wasn't tired at all.

My first advice would be to get a good night sleep (6-10 hours). I would actually recommend drinking the red bull/bawls/whatever during one of the breaks in the middle or near the end of the test, as by then no matter how much sleep you got, the demon that is the SAT has sucked the life out of you and you could use the kick of caffiene to get you through the home stretch.

NO, it'll totally make you hyper. It's worse than Mountain Dew with the extra caffeine. You don't want to be jittery. You need to be able to focus. Forget the Red Bull. Try to get a decent night's sleep, don't do any prep the day before, and eat a decent breakfast with a good amount of protein and not too much sugar.

I personally don't like caffeinated drinks before tests.

That is very lucky, warren_buffet89!

When I took my SATs in January, I decided to just randomly go through a few vocab words the morning of the test to warm up and the last word I read before taking the test was the answer to a sentence completion. Good thing I read it or I wouldn't have gotten that problem right.

I was more focused when I took the SAT this time. I took a no-doz the night before because i had an application due at midnight and was drifting away. Since I couldn't sleep, I prepped for the SAT by taking practice tests and stuff. I went in and took the SAT with no sleep and did just fine, probably because of my run-through of everything. I know that if I was not hopped up on caffeine during that translating passage I would have messed up big time. It was so boring!

If I study and then sleep I will forget everything. I have to study right before I take a test. When I took the Calculus placement exam I went to bed at 6pm the night before, woke up at 2am, studied for 6 hours, took the test, passed, skipped pre-cal/trig and went straight into Calculus.

It all depends on how your body works. Try drinking Red Bull before taking an exam before you try it on the SAT.
