To all of you who are taking the SAT in 2016.
How are you guys gonna prepare?
When will you start preparing?!
What do you recommend?
&
What do you know about the changes.
I’m nervous about this change
My S18 will be taking the new PSAT this Oct and the new SAT in the Spring. Here’s his plan:
Ivy Global’s New PSAT book starting on Monday (Friday was the last day of school here)
New CB book (on pre-order from Amazon it should be here some time in June)
Local Prep class in August, I have been assured it will be taught for the NEW PSAT
Depending on the results of the PSAT we will see what areas he needs to work on for the Spring SAT
we will likely use Khan Academy and look for updated material from Mike McClenathan author of PWN the SAT and by Erica Meltzer author The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar and The Critical Reader or just use the books in the current format. D16 used these books for her SAT.
Next August (2016) he’ll use PrepScholar to review for the PSAT that counts for him for NM and take the SAT a second time in Fall 2016 (unless he nails the SAT the first time and be done with testing early in his junior year. This what his sister did and she was so happy to not to have to worry about SAT and AP tests at the same time!
According to Mr. Coleman of the CB you won’t need to prep for the new SAT: it’s going to test what you’ve been taught in school.
Does anyone actually believe this?
@Czeska no…
But if I had a kid prepping, I would get the new Blue Book as soon as it comes out and plow through it!
@Czeska -
Even Mr. Coleman doesn’t believe this–CB has partnered with Khan Academy for online test-prep content, after all!
