REDESIGNED SAT QUESTIONS

I just took the Redesigned SAT w/ essay today.

In the case where my essay score is high while my SAT score is low and I want to retake the exam, do I have do take the SAT including the essay again? Or can I just take the SAT without the essay?

Also, assuming that I do retake the exam with the essay, do I have to submit (to colleges) a SAT score and an essay from the same day? Let’s say I got a bad SAT score but a good essay score on my first attempt and a good SAT score but a bad essay score on my second attempt. Am I allowed to submit the good essay score with the good SAT score, despite them being on different days?

Thanks. Sorry if that was confusing.

You can choose to take the SAT with or without the essay.
The first time I took it, it was in March without the essay and yesterday I took it with the essay because I wanted a writing score just in case colleges wanted one.

If you end up not liking your score on the essay, you’ll have to retake the entire test again. However, some colleges superscore, and many no longer require the writing section score, so your bad essay score won’t be the end of the world! As far as submitting only one section, I’m not entirely sure. If no one else replies to this, check the collegeboard website or contact them about it.

You cannot mix and match sections from different testing days.

If the schools you are considering super score, they will see all subscores but will consider the highest scores from each section.
