Hey, I noticed no one has made this yet so I thought I'd get the ball rolling.

So if you're reading this and you applied to Reed for the RD round, or were deferred, feel free to say hello. This forum hasn't really been active, but I know I'm not the only person on CC applying to Reed.

Come let us talk about how awesome/weird/awesomely weird/weirdly awesome Reed is :)

Just submitted my supplement today, already anxious to hear back! How long were your guys’ (assuming that multiple people will eventually frequent this thread) Why Reed? essays? Mine was like…1,100 words. Felt like waaaaaay too much but I didn’t have the heart to cut anything.

I haven’t received any conformation mail yet…

Keep checking your portals! Or, whatever they call that thing, the list of received documents/parts to your application.

Did anyone else interview outside campus/Oregon? I just interviewed in Berkeley a week ago, I think it went okay but I frequently caught my interviewer looking around the cafe we were in. So not making eye contact with me. Like she was bored or something. Uuuuuuuuuugggh

Im surprised with how little Reed has kept in contact considering that before their application deadline they were emailing and mailing me every other week. Oh well I still love them anyway hahaha.

^ I wish I had gotten to interview for Reed, but by the time I was ready to request one, all the time slots were full. Maybe she had ADD or something. I only say this because my Oberlin interviewer seemed a bit distracted in my interview but he later on revealed that he had ADHD.

P.S. Does anyone know how many apps Reed got this year?

@ivyvision - right, that would make sense and is definitely a possibility. It wasn’t actually that unnerving in the moment, I didn’t lose my cool or anything. I just have a habit of replaying perceived mistakes in my mind after the fact, haha.

Does anyone know if Reed sends likely letters? My guess would be that they don’t, but I’m not sure…

does reed notify by email 1st and then mail or mail only?? was interviewed in nyc by asst. dean of admissions. waiting… how early might they notify?

Website says “Late March”. I think last year was March 29th and considering that that exact date falls on a Friday this year, it wouldn’t surprise me if that is the date. Based on what happened with the ED1 candidates, you will receive an e-mail first, then snail mail. I would guess (mind you, strictly a “guess”) you will know by 5 PM (Pacific) on the 29th.

Hello all. I’m a current Reed student. Took a leave of absence for personal reasons and returning in the fall–can’t wait to be back … Reed is an amazing place and there’s no other place like it!!

As far as admissions decisions, you will receive an email first and snail mail to follow. Both are unique in their format and equally exciting. RD admission notifications are mailed late March so not too much longer.
