***Reed Class of 2021 RD Applicant Thread***

Hi. Earlier on I said I was waitlisted. I did indeed ask for a lot of aid.
Anyway, is any of you accepting the offer?

How much should you wait before sending extra materials as a waitlist student?

@poregan Just FYI, I’m in the bay area and received mine Friday.

Congratulations to you! We will give it one more day then accept that it’s a “no”.

I really wish they would go ahead and send emails one way or another today. I just want to know.

Haha I wish they would just use an application portal, but that’s too normal for them

Hey y’all. I’m in southern Nevada, have received nothing yet from Reed, and I’ve called FedEx and apparently nothing is coming. Should I just assume I’ve been rejected? Anyone else from this area receive a box or ejection letter yet?

So is anyone actually seeing an incoming package for them on the Fedex Delivery Manager (especially on the East Coast?)

@mrskite I’m not seeing anything :-S rip maybe I just didn’t get in >.< (I live in NJ)

Well, I was looking at the Reed 2020 thread and found this:

“According to their FAQ, the FedEx delivery manager will not show any package that has been approved/scanned/put into their system before your account was made. If you made an account after 9pm PST on April 1, it probably won’t show up.”

Maybe we made our accounts too late (not April 1st for this year obviously but for whenever they sent them out)? That’s what I’m hoping for. I’ve already been waitlisted for Kenyon and Sarah Lawrence so my hopes aren’t too high  But good luck to you! @Fangirl1999

Nope, I’ve had my account for a while. Best of luck to you!

Just a reference for future applicants:
I was accepted
OOS from Florida as a psych major with a 4.6/5.0 WGPA, 4.0 GPA, 1400 new SAT and 10 AP’s. I wrote my essay on how I would teach the creation of memes and role of memes in pop culture for Paideia week lol
Congrats to all future reedies and good luck to those on the waitlist! I haven’t received any information about financial aid or scholarships yet so I’m hoping that means they haven’t sent out that information?

@mrskite , the thing is I’ve actually been calling FedEx and hearing that I’m not receiving a package.

@charcoalatey2021 They are sending out financial aid within seven days.

Oh, I’m sorry @hawkirk :frowning: maybe they haven’t sent them all out yet? How did you call them? Like what section of their phone service are you supposed to choose?

@mrskite you call the FedEx national number, go through the operator to speak to a representative, and then tell them that you’re expecting a package but don’t have a tracking number. They’ll check their system based off the address you give them and let you know if anything is supposed to be heading your way. I’ve done this twice now, both times no packages identified.

From Reed’s Common Data Set (2015-2016).
Out of 437 students that accepted a place on the wait list only 3 were accepted.
I don’t need a calculator to see that the odds are less than 1%. (I doubt it flactcuate significantly in our favor)

My fellow waitisted prospies it looks like it’s about time we filled in the admittance forms for our next top choices.

Waitlisted in North Carolina

Waitlisted in New Jersey! Unfortunately I will likely not be able to take the spot because I am planning on taking a gap year. Oh well!

Waitlisted in WA … at least I have some other good options (Grinnell, Bard Berlin, UW), still disappointing
