Is this true? Anyone visit the campus? Comments please? I heard it surpasses HYPS and AWS

I think almost every top LAC totes that...

I visited the campus. It's a beautiful place, and the students seem really into their academics. A very distinct kind of student goes there, however, and it is definitely not for everyone.

Umm.. what about Deep Springs? They accept like 20 kids and most the graduates from the two year program go to Harvard, Penn, and Princeton.

I don't think he means difficult concerning selectivity but academics.

To answer the question. Probably not, and that's nothing you can really gauge anyway.

In any case, Reed is a fantastic school, and one of the best LAC's in the country IMO. I visited the college and considered going very seriously, it's an amazing group of students.

I like Portland very much- The Reed campus is beautiful and they have some very good depts. However it is very small and some students have to go elsewhere ( lewis & clark or transfer) to take classes like Japanese.
Very strong faculty especially in the sciences but I have spoken to several high school students who are strong students but were turned off by the intensity of the academics. Not everyone wants to sleep in the library the week of finals. Some students like having well known sports teams and some students appreciate having a student body that doesn't look fairly homogeneous.
However if you aren't turned off by the intellectual challenge (and grade deflation) you also might want to look at Swarthmore & Uchicago
