<p>My position has already been very well expressed by JHS so I won’t add more verbiage.</p>
<p>In the Middle Ages they made fun of the Devil as the best way to treat him. Being “offensive” is the goal of a lot of humor. And satire even more so – think Swift’s brilliant “A Modest Proposal.”</p>
<p>That said, I think Lewis and Clark is the victim here, not the Jews. That aspect is completely tasteless and uncalled for.</p>
<p>I warrant that some of the kids who worked on this piece are Jewish, as am I.</p>
<p>I didn’t find it funny because it wasn’t particularly clever, but this are kids who are just beginning. I hope they will develop into wittier satirists and that the PC police give them a chance to do so.</p>
<p>I do think the prez’s apology to Lewis and Clark very appropriate, though a rival is a rival.</p>
