It’s a little early, but with only a few months left until decisions I thought I’d make this thread now.
Very interested in meeting some more hopeful Reedies!
I applied to Reed for linguistics! I’m very excited, as it’s one of my top choices
I also applied to Reed! I applied as a chemistry major.
Hi guys. I applied to Reed as a Physics major. What topic did you guys choose for your Paideia course? Also, what were you stats?
1520 SAT/3.88 GPA! Applied as a math major, iirc. @damndaniel14
Mine was “How to Bounce Back from Burnout” or something along those lines. I had some more academic ideas… but tbh they probably know enough about my classes from my transcript
I was really pumped to see so many math and physics people in the class distribution (relatively many). That’s so rare for an LAC! Makes me feel like there’d be a passionate, nerdy community, even if there aren’t as many math classes as at my state uni.
My stats are 1420 SAT/32 ACT and a 4.86/3.75 GPA. I applied as a chemistry major. My Paideia course was over Magical Realism!
28 ACT, 4.3/3.8 GPA (it’s a reach school for me obviously), I applied as a music major (can’t remember if I listed polisci as an alternate) and wrote about Activism and the Arts as I’m highly involved in theatre and social justice and political activism
Anyone know when RD decisions will be sent out?
Usually they send out the packages near the end of March. When you receive yours depends on your location, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some people are still hearing back in April.
Did anyone else receive a letter from Reed inviting you to read more about the major(s) you applied as?
i got one today
I got one too
Be cautious reading anything into letter, it would seem unlikely that they would project their decisions that obviously.
That said, my D received one last year and was admitted later in the month.
Perhaps those that received one could report back with their results. It would be interesting to see if there is, indeed, something behind the letter.
Good luck to you all.
D19 received the letter as well. She was deferred from EA, and I don’t remember her receiving such a letter back in December/January.
I actually wish colleges would be totally silent in the period between submission deadline and announcement decision. She also received an e-mail from an alum at another LAC she’s applying to, basically saying “Any questions?” It’s just not helpful until the student knows where she got in.
Son received letter today as well… Rude!
The letter was sort of freaky as it’s around when letters with decisions come, and being thin, it seemed like a rejection…indeed stressful!
Son received a letter from Reed today, a brochure on his intended major.
anyone know when decisions come out? I know on the website they say April 1st but so did Bowdoin and theirs came out today.
Last year, decisions came out beginning around March 23. Unlike many schools, I think Reed notifies through regular mail (or FedEx) by sending out either an acceptance box or envelope with rejection/ waitlist letter. However, I do recall reading that one year decisions were sent out around this time in March, so maybe pretty soon. Like I mentioned above, my son just recently received a brochure on his selected major.
I got that too but I highly doubt it actually means anything
