Reed RD Class of 2023

Agree. Looking back on the Reed College 2022 thread, I couldn’t figure out if receiving the brochure was indicative of an acceptance.

best I could track that long thread last year, two of folks that said they got a brochure were waitlisted. I couldn’t track back if any rejected or accepted received one.

Makes more sense to send the brochure with an acceptance rather than to every applicant, not mention the savings financially and environmentally on paper.

The whole Reed admissions/marketing strategy is very mysterious to me. Is is heavily reliant on the US Post Office. This is not a good way to communicate with a 21st century kid. We received more marketing mail from Reed than all of the other colleges combined. My daughter ignored most of it. I read it and found it kind of generic. Why send out all this mail. And, as @NMParent000079 mentioned, it is has a whole set of environmental problems too.

My daughter had the opposite reaction to post mailings. She gets spammed with dozens of emails each week that get ignored and perks up when there’s an envelope from Reed. The FedEx’ed acceptance package was a unique joy.

Not sure if this info will be of any help but I was accepted EDI in December and yesterday I also received a letter with pamphlets about my intended major!

When do decisions come out?

hi, just got my box from reed. Accepted! I live in Northern CA

^ Congratulations!

@hopefulll28 did it come fedex or what?

yes, came fedex @4sugarplums

@hopefulll28 thank you. I guess this is yet another we didn’t make since I have Fedex tracker and didn’t get a notice of shipment :(. Le sigh.

Anyone know if the student needs to have a fedextracker in their name or is it tied to the address the package is sent to ?

Anyone else a little worried about an alleged growing influence by Portland area neo-nazi groups?

@4sugarplums Hang in there, I went back and looked at the emails my daughter received last year. She was notified via email by the admissions office on April 3rd. I received FedEx notification that a package was on its way on April 4th. Reed takes a long time to make ANY decision so this drawn out process falls right in line. I suspect that they are saving the best for last! Keep the faith and good luck.

@carondelet The FedEx tracker is linked to your address.

@autumnspast, you are very kind to go to the trouble and say such nice things. Thank you. Truly.

International student here. Applied as a physics major. SAT 1350/GPA 4.0, my course was on snakes. No response from Reed yet.

My son in So Cal just got a box delivered via FedEx and it has a big “Congratulations” on the bottom of the outside label. I trust this is good news judging from what one other poster said about receiving a box via FedEx. Good luck to everyone…
