Reed RD Class of 2023

@s92md23 Ohio

If I haven’t gotten a box, should I assume rejection? Also, does anyone know when decisions online will be released?

@CoolChem Last year we did not receive any notification until the first couple of days into April. I think they are still making their decisions or at least finalizing them.

Does Reed College have quotas for different countries? 2 students have already been accepted from ED from my country and it’s a fairly small one. I have a fairly good application 1580 SAT, good grades, and okay extracurriculars. Do you think I stand a chance?

No hard quotas, but Reed does consider geographic residence as a diversity issue. Otherwise it’s hard to say.

Geographic diversity as in international status, or geographic diversity as in from an underrepresented state within the U.S.?

Also, does anyone know if Reed still gives travel vouchers to some accepted students to visit the campus?

I think both.

Has anyone been emailed?

Seems reed wants to funnel all to the RD admits into the 2nd Admit day rather than give people the option of the first or second Monday… Have not heard yet as most people but pretty obnoxious

Do these reception dates by city indicate that if you haven’t heard from Reed by then, you’re not admitted? Does anyone know?

We haven’t heard, btw; simply found this page with browser search.

@waiting4newz Not sure. Wouldn’t apply to my son as we don’t live in any of those cities or states. Nearest one is Phoenix, but even that would be a 7-hour drive.

Does anyone know for sure when the decisions should come out for international students? Will we get an online notification or will we have to wait for actual mail to arrive?

@HS2001 Last year we received the email on April 2nd. So I would suspect that you will get notified one day this week.

Anyone get a fedex box recently or notification of one?

According to this thread, only one person has received an acceptance box in the past week, and before that there were just a few. Either Reed has become a lot more selective compared to the previous few years or most acceptance boxes haven’t been mailed out yet. Hoping for the latter.

@NMParent000079 I doubt they have completed all of their decisions. Reed has a relatively low yield so they have to admit quite a few kids.

Thanks @NMParent000079, those are interesting stats!

@NMParent000079, wishing your son the best! My daughter and her friends have learned just how unpredictable this college application process is.

Created an account here to let you guys know that fellow Texas applicants might want to keep an eye open - I just got an acceptance email from Reed stating that “you’re admission packet is in the mail” - among other things.

A friend of ours in AZ just received an acceptance email as well.
