Reed RD Class of 2023

oh man, that’s not good news. My daughter is so hoping to get in. She’s gotten into Dartmouth and Cornell, so I was thinking that it would be likely she’d be accepted into Reed, but I don’t think she’s gotten an email. Haven’t picked up today’s mail yet, so I don’t know for sure. Ugh!

How did he get to the portal? I know she checked something yesterday and didn’t see anything, but I don’t know if she was checking the right location.

Who still is waiting to hear from Reed College?

[Raises hand on behalf of D19.]

My D is waitlisted. First choice so holding out hope.

@RHPfSC Keep the faith, last your they accepted 80 applicants off of the WL, which works out to be 16.7% of those that asked to be placed on the list.

Really?! That’s great, I thought it was 0. I will keep you all posted.

@farmgirl1961 I have the portal bookmarked, I can send it to you when I get home.
However, my portal does not have a status update or anything, even though I’ve been admitted. So that’s not a surefire way to tell.

She found out she is waitlisted. Better than not being accepted, but still…it makes no sense. Her GPA and test scores put her above the 75% percentile of what Reed requires. I’m thinking it came down to the fact that she’s from Oregon and they want global diversity. I get it…but wow – feeling a bit disappointed.

It’s so hard. It was nice to find out that there were 80 people admitted off the WL last year. Maybe your D and mine will be part of this years! ?

Still no update for me.
How did she find out? Though email? @farmgirl1961

Me too @CoolChem . I am an international student and decisions were out to all ppl in my school except for me.

yes, she got an email last night telling her she was WL

@farmgirl1961, the application and admissions process has been a huge eye opener for us. Our daughter was accepted to two super prestigious colleges but waitlisted at one that is less so and showed a significantly lower SAT range. It is all a matter of perceived fit and what the admissions team believes it needs in an incoming class at a given time. Also, some colleges are need-aware, and this can have an impact on admissions as well. It’s all a very human and subjective process for sure. Wishing your daughter the best.

Anyone else feel like the approach to financial aid is just straight up disrespectful? I just spoke to someone in the office who said that financial aid should be finalized “sometime early next week”… so after the first admitted students day! And she mentioned that it comes by post first and then on the portal… also… WHY? If you have the information ready why make families wait like this?

oof, next week? that is harsh…
it seems like admissions is having unusual trouble this year. Maybe a lot of people were accepted?

I’m not very happy about that. Families need to look carefully at and compare all financial aid packages.

Does anyone know if Reed gives travel vouchers to accepted students?

Anyone’s decision isn’t out yet?

Waiting for FA info… to see if feasible…
