nothing yet.
@ruby21 what’s funny is that i’m a rising sophomore psych major who got waitlisted last year too! hope i see you at reed next year
On the waitlist!
Does anyone know anything about Reed’s “second transfer deadline”? I got an e-mail today saying it would be June 15th. Is it possibly for a Spring term? I can’t call them right now because of the time…
I highly doubt they’d send out an e-mail to tell us the deadline for a “non priority”/rolling consideration for transfers, which would be anyone’s initial guess.
@ruby21 High five You probably remember me from the 2020 thread then, huh? :)) I hope you get a positive decision!
I didn’t apply as a transfer student on the March deadline because well… I just felt that the Reed bird had already flown on that fateful morning.
Depending on what the June 15th deadline entails, I might apply. I’m just afraid there won’t be much, if any, financial aid left at the point. I might have to speak with admissions this Monday.
@AGoodFloridian Hey I applied last year and was in the 2020 thread as well! I remember you! We’re basically in the same boat. I wasn’t planning on applying because I figured the dream was over but then got the email and now might. I emaile the assistant director of admissions for transfer about it so we’ll see if I get a reply about it.
Do you think they sent the email mail to us be cause we ex applied last year? They suggest a year of classes before reapplying.
@BlackMagic81 I’m really not sure. I did kind of expect more acceptances on this thread (some may have not posted it), because it seems Reed is pretty open to transfer students with an acceptance rate of 29% as of 2016. It may seem like a small number but god be my witness there are some colleges that are hypercompetitive hahahah
We’ll give them a call on Monday to find out. If financial aid is O.K. then there might be a round two for Reed in my books, though I won’t expect much. Doing that didn’t get me far last time huh
@AGoodFloridian yeah I wonder if they didn’t accept as many as they wanted to or expected. Let me know what they say after you call!! I won’t get my hopes up either. Wish I could have accepted the waitlist spot last time. Hoping things will be different for both of us this time!
@BlackMagic81 Hey pal, turns out you were spot on! They sent those emails out to those who had previously applied. Best of luck to you, Ill be applying too.
I think I’ll apply too. Haven’t done much since the first time but oh well it can’t hurt.
@BlackMagic81 Haven’t done much? You have 2 semesters at a college under your belt, that’s definitely something right? :))
Yeah the only good thing to come from that for admissions will be teacher recommendations. Half the classes were terribly boring.
Eh, I get you. As long as you had a good performance in them, I’d say they were definitely worth it!
A quick favor, could you possibly call admissions and ask them for an estimate on when we’d be receiving the decision? Or better yet, if they got the whole rolling admission going on? (basically is it better to finish the application asap, so we receive a decision asap, etc… )
@AGoodFloridian Sure it won’t be until later though.
@AGoodFloridian sorry forgot to post yesterday. They said they want to get back to applicants ASAP. It will probably be early July. He said hopefully July first.
@BlackMagic81 Thanks for calling them It seems like there won’t be many applicants on “this round”. I’m actually thinking about visiting Reed and having a quick chat with Mr. Trinh. I’ve been dying to have a tour of the campus ever since I applied a year ago, so hopefully I can do both!
@AGoodFloridian ughh I already have a trip planned for end of June (VidCon whooooo) so I can’t afford to visit. Hope it goes well for you though! Just waiting for them to reactivate my application then I can finish everything else they need.
@BlackMagic81 Reactivate? I thought we had to go through the CommonApp again- do you mean they still have our documents on file?
@AGoodFloridian http://www.reed.edu/apply/guide-to-applying/special-circumstances.html I think both? They have details in reapplying in the website. I assumed that’s what we were supposed to be follow but maybe it isn’t just the common app.
Also I just realized I still have a couple more payment for tuition to the school I’m at no with. Do you think reed will accept unofficial transcripts until I pay that?
