Since decision day came and went I figured we could commiserate together :(. Does anyone else think our waitlist chances are improved due to the reported delay in admissions (to April 19 in some cases, I believe)? Has anyone gotten off the list yet?
I’m a transfer student, also on the waitlist. What do you mean the delay in admissions?
They’ve just taken forever getting back to people. Reed’s newspaper wrote an article about how them being so behind their deadline for reply (April 1) for RD may hurt their enrollment.
My daughter was waitlisted to Reed…we haven’t heard anything yet but remain hopeful.
Has anyone heard anything? I’m still waiting.
I spoke with my admissions rep and she said they haven’t begun pulling from the waitlist at all yet
Any news?
Is the wait list activity complete?
My best guess is that they overenrolled. Their admissions office seems pretty chaotic and their track records indicate that there are fluke years they don’t take anyone at all. Seems like this is one of those years I mean we might get a call in the next couple of weeks if enough people melt off to other places but it seems fairly unlikely at this point.
I just got an email yesterday that confirmed my interest in staying on the waitlist, I called the office 3 days ago and recently sent another supplemental email so idk if this was just a glitch or if they noticed my application? Did anyone else get this late confirmation?
No, I haven’t heard of them doing that. Did you send in materials to start with?
Did anyone get their release emails?
I did. I hope everyone has a great year and I’ll (maybe) see you on the transfer thread for 2020?
I didn’t get my release email but haven’t been accepted yet either… My admissions counselor was pretty cagey just thanked me for my patience and said they’re still working on it but I know some pepole were released already. I’m getting pretty annoyed. School starts in three weeks, It’s way too late to still be contending with the waitlist. My need is super high so I don’t think I’m very likely to get in but I can’t make sense of why they wouldn’t release me. Is there anyone else who hasn’t been released?
Did you hear back on this? Seems like they’re having some serious problems with admissions this year.
No, I still haven’t heard anything. Definitely not going at this point. I sent her back an email asking about when I might expect to hear a week ago and she never even responded. I can’t imagine I’m the only one their holding like this but it’s crazy. I don’t know how they’d expect anyone to accept at this point. Orientation starts a week from today…
Wow, that is insane. I hope class of 2024 doesn’t have to contend with this. I’m from far out of state and I would’ve been losing my mind if I even hypothetically had to pack up and get to Portland with a week’s notice. Best of luck resolving it.
I am not sure how many are still reviewing this thread. We were very frustrated with the process at Reed. Luckily we had other options and landed somewhere else. If interested, please read the article within this link to get a better understanding of state of affairs within Reed College Admissions. It will not change anything but in some way may help.

@Max-in-Cali Informative article. So what were the other options?
UCSD was the option that worked. However, that is a big school versus a small school (Reed) comparison. Each university has it’s own uniqueness and pros and cons. The lack of feedback from Reed and lateness in receiving information made it hard to do a timely assessment. It also extended the stress of trying to make the right decision without all the information available.
