Reef Points

Yes sir! And that means NO ROOT BEER and NO GINGER ALE!

And we ain't kiddin'!:(

So consider yourselves warned, wannabe Mids! The Pink Panther of Soda Pop, that long arm of legal libation, has hereby put you on notice! Any sassparilla or derivatives there of consumed over the next 6 months will be imbibed at your own peril! For rumor has it USNA is implementing birch beer breathalizers and blood tests for Coke come I Day.

(I gotta wonder if she's kin to Officer Bookman, the tough-guy enforcer of fines for overdue library books on Seinfeld? This could be a match made in heaven! :D Maybe they found each other on eHarmony.com? Geography's no issue as they're both Big Apples.)

As WP stated-
most of us on here are here to help.
MOST.
Sadly, not all.
Enough said.

"Man in the Arena" - I assume this is the famous Teddy Roosevelt speech. I don't recall that ever being in our ('79) Reef Points - although it is a great quote.

Also, I remember we got a little pamphlet that had the "A Message to Garcia". Do they still hand that out to the new Plebes? I think that story has a great message.
A Message to Garcia by Elbert Hubbard

It is the Teddy Roosevelt speech- they have to memorize the central part of it addressing the "Man in the Arena" - has been in Reef Points for awhile now.

Seem to recall a Message to Garcia as well- will have to ask my Mid about that one!

We had to know the Code of Conduct, the mission (duh), General Orders of a Sentry, Rank ID (officer and enlisted) of all services, and some more. However, don't be "that guy" and study now. Studying once you report puts you in the same boat, so to speak, as your new classmates.

Memphis, we did get "A Message to Garcia."

Man in the Arena from "It is not the critic...." to "niether know victory nor defeat." Yes, we received the Message to Garcia Pamphlet with the story in it, and whenever something seemingly impossible needed to be the done the detailers would say "Message to Garcia...".

Ah, you'll understand once you're a firstie.
