hi, this summer i was interning at an investment bank
and i was told that i should probably get a reference letter from them (not a rec)to prove that i actually did intern there, should universities be curious or suspicious about it.
so, I know that the two have slightly differnce purposes, but would the content of the letter be any different? if they are, I'm guessing a reference letter will be more factual and objective and shorter in length. is this true?
(when I send an email to them requesting the reference letter, I'd like to tell them what it should sound like and what i want them to focus on so that it's not too big of an inconvinience for them....)
Also, what happens if they flat out say NO? they were super nice to me when i was there so i doubt it, but these are EXTREMELY busy people i'm talking about (they work about 18-20 hours a day, weekends included) so
what if they seem unwilling? and unlike recs which i could very easily find another teacher if the ones i asked seem indifferent, i only worked with 2 analysts when i was there so i don't think that I'll have anyone else that could write one for me...
in that case should i contact their HR to provide me with a certificate of some sort? gawd i so worried....
