"referred to scholastic review" but...

My online app status says "referred to scholastic review", and as I am aware that I don't qualify automatically (2.9 UW gpa) I have a 2050 SAT score (760 CR, 710 W, 580 M) along with fantastic ECs, so I'm wondering if there's a chance that I'll be rejected.

Thank you!

Ah, yes. This happened to me last year. They gave me another shot at getting in but I guess I didn’t get it because there were so many applicants. This is what happened:
I had to send a letter of recommendation or 2 ( I forgot). And I had to write an essay as well. If you get in, you will have to meet up with a counselor or something. I kind of forgot what the paper said…

Did you end up getting in, ledezmabr?

So will they send me something saying this or should I just go ahead and send that stuff?

I am trying to find that paper for you but in the meantime… this might help you understand.

They will send you a paper telling you what to do. They give you a deadline to send it as well. You have a fair amount of time so do not worry.

no, tulare, I did not. It broke my heart at first, especially since I found out the day before prom in my AVID class. But no worries, I did everything I can to transfer. I applied so far, I just need to send in some stuff :)

I can’t seem to find the paper. But, they should send you something soon. If not ask a counselor  I always ask Dave Morrin. He is really nice. They have other counselors as well. They go by regions, I am from Southern Cali, so yea. But you can ask any counselor. His email is :dmorrin@uoregon.edu

Glad to hear you didn’t give up, ledezmabr. That says a lot about what kind of person you are. Best of luck!

Dear Tulare,
Thank you for you wishes. I am very anxious to hear about their decision. I can’t wait for my current quarter to end so that I can send my transcripts. I want to be a duck already.

So they said I was “deferred to march file review”, I emailed my counselor there and she said that based on their new set of requirements, I didn’t have enough science credits but to send my senior grades to them. I don’t really know what to make of this, is this what happened to you (being deferred)?

March file review means we need to see your fall semester senior year grades before we can make a decision about admission. To clarify, it is not the same thing as the program linked to up above, and you do not need to submit anything else other than your transcript for the fall semester. It sounds like you’ve already reached out to our staff, but if you still have questions or would like to discuss your application in greater detail, you should call one of our counselors at 1-800-BE-A-DUCK.

UOregon: Are all “March file review” decisions issued in March, or are they released on a rolling basis? I know of a handful of anxious students who would like a sense of when they might hear the final decision.

Hi Tulare: first off, anxious students should sign in to DuckWeb or give us a call to make sure their application is complete and we received their seventh semester transcripts. I can’t say for sure when individual applicants will hear back, but all decisions should be made by the end of March and most will hear back sometime in the middle of the month.

Do “deferred for March review” applicants get reviewed after all other regular decision applicants? Do the admission letters always get sent at the end of the month or can they go out earlier than that? Trying to make some decisions and the waiting is horrible!

Hi @gardenmom0820 - we are still waiting too. We have sent in all the grades, status still says “referred for March review” and the waiting is just awful. We have heard from all other colleges and are trying to make decisions. We have reached out to admissions and the file is complete. I’m wondering, like you said, if these applications are the last to be reviewed??

My daughter was also “referred for March review”. We live out of state. She applied early admission, but her grades were not sufficient for guaranteed early admission. Her 7th semester grades have been sent and I believe she meets their standards for regular admission, but she still hasn’t received anything in the mail or seen any change on the web site for that matter.

They said most people will hear by the end of March, so there should be something any day. For my son it changed from “deferred to March review” to “admission offered” online about three days before a packet arrived in the mail. So keep an eye on their website. Good luck!

@Nervousmom & 529mom–any news yet? I’ve been checking the website, but no updates!

Nope. Nothing at this point. We finally last night signed up for housing for our second choice because my son doesn’t want to wait until the last minute and get bad housing if that is where he will be going. This is so beyond frustrating…hopefully soon, but I’m losing patience and enthusiasm with the University of Oregon.

We are really hoping to get out of the UC system…we do hope that Oregon let’s us know something soon. We don’t even know who to talk to either. Has anyone tried asking someone in admissions? Or emailing someone and did you hear back?
