Refining my list of colleges?

I'm hoping to do something in the financial sector, but I'm not dead set on what specific area (perhaps management or finance). However I'm mostly concentrating on applying to schools with strong undergraduate business programs. Here is my list as of now:

Emory
WUSTL (Olin) -- ED
USC (Marshall)
UMich
UCB
UCLA
UNC-CH
BC (Caroll)
NYU
William & Mary
Brandeis
BU (SMG)
Northeastern (CBA)

My profile:
NY Resident/Asian
Top ranked east coast private school
92% UW GPA ('Most Rigorous' schedule, 6-8 APs by graduation)
2160 SAT (CR + M: 1420)
Two 700+ Subject tests in MathII and Foreign Language

Is my list too long? Are there too many reaches? Should there be other schools for me consider? I've already looked at Babson and Bentley and they don't really interest me.

Any advice is immensely appreciated.

Do you have any cost constraints? Put “net price calculator” and/or “financial aid estimator” in each school’s search box.

Costs/FA are not a factor in my application process. My family is pretty well off.

I think your list is fine and you include a nice mix of reach, match, and safety schools (not financial safeties per se but you indicated that they are really not necessary). I believe you will be accepted to most of the schools on your list however I would certainly take merit-based financial aid packages into consideration when making your decision and look at costs of attendance at the schools that accept you. Best of luck.

I agree, good list! I wish I knew what state you were from though just to make sure you have a really good financial safety. I have a feeling Northeastern will offer you merit, but not sure anymore since they are moving up. I think you’ll have some good options in the end though. Please apply to Michigan (rolling admissions) asap!

Thank you for the feedback everyone. But honestly cost is really not a significant concern for me. I mean, it would be nice to get a few merit scholarships and application fee waivers, but the institution would probably reserve those rewards for people that probably actually need it.

I’ve already applied EA to Michigan. Can’t wait to hear back in December!

Michigan would be perfect for you —Good luck!!

Holy Cross and Colgate.

Thank you for the suggestion par72. I will look into Colgate and I’ve looked at Holy Cross before, and, while an amazing institution, I just don’t know if its right for me (I understand that its quite similar to BC, but I have personal reasons as to why I’m applying to BC).

Can anyone suggest some more match schools for me? I feel like the only target schools I have on my list are NYU, Brandeis, BC, and maybe W&M (OOS). How are the UCs this year in terms of competitiveness for OOS applicants?

For UCs, don’t expect much financial aid as an OOS student. Try the financial aid estimators on their web pages.

I’m asking only in terms of general admissions. I’m not applying for aid.

Can anyone suggest some more match schools for me?
Bucknell

pretty hard to get accepted as an OOS, but since you are a full pay applicant you may have a better chance this year…
The question is , do you really want to pay $50,000 [T+ R+ B] to go to an OOS U that is cutting back UG classes and hiring adjunct profs because of severe financial funding problems ?? My son would not apply to any UC 5 yrs ago [ and we are instate] because he did not want to go to a school with huge class sizes. Its worse now…
