If you want a minifrige in your room, where do you get one?

I know that some schools have on campus rental services set up the first week of school, and others suggest purchasing one.

At Lovett we have an auction at the beginning of the year to get rid of stuff that’s left over after summer storage; you can usually pick up a few fridges for a couple of bucks each. I don’t know about the other residential colleges, though.

Here is the thing, if you think that you are going to have a mini fridge all four years, buy one. If you don’t think so, I suggest you rent one or buy a cheap used one.

Why shouldn’t you buy a cheap used one even if you think you’re going to have a mini fridge all four years? It’s not iike the fact that it’s been used for a year or two greatly diminishes its value. I bought a perfectly usable fridge, a microwave, and a TV from a graduating senior for a total of $40.

cdz, are you even a Rice student? Or a college student at all? Or have you even been a college student? As far as I can tell from your posts, you’re still in high school and you’re interested in being a pre-med, so I don’t really understand why you’re doling out advice about college life like you know what you’re talking about.

wow that was harsh. =/

Also, if you manage to get a ****ty fridge for first year, you could always wait until all the seniors graduate and leave their fridges out in the quads and take one. (But be smart about it. Don’t steal. Most of the time it’s pretty obvious if a fridge was abandoned or just left out to thaw.)
