refund overage into students account?

I just talked to the financial aid office, and the overage that we borrowed (living and spending money) has not been deposited into my sons account as of today, I called out last week, and was told by a Pitt rep, after being transfered around from one department to the next, that the money would be in his account by last Friday, or this Monday, the 20th, at the latest. As of today, the money is still not showing in his account, and was told by another financial aid rep, that all money should be deposited by Thursday. We are making the trip out and moving him in on Wednesday, it just annoys me that the money is not available yet. The rep I talked to today said that other stuents are in the same boat, I basically told her that the university needs to be more on top of things, especially if this occurs every year, which she alluded to. Thoughts?

FWIW I got an email from Pitt yesterday that my refund transfer is in process. Mine was set up via Direct Deposit and they said it takes 3 business days to do.

Do you have Direct Deposit set up for the refund? If not they will send you a check which will take longer

I called them yesterday to see if I could transfer some of the money to my son’s Panther Funds account - was surprised that the school has no way to do that. I have to wait for the refund then put the money into Panther funds - that is book money so hope it happens as they say it will.

Yes, he does have direct deposit through PNC bank. Nothing is showing up on his account yet, its just very annoying,I don’t want to leave him without any money, but at the same time, we are being generous with the money he is getting in the refund, and do not feel we should have to dish anymore out, if certain parties would just get their act together.

Just FWIW - I just checked my checking account and the money is now there.

Hopefully yours will be today also

Thanks Donna’s mom, his money was also showing up in his account, its hard enough leaving them anyway, without that worry yet.
