I just checked my Bearfacts about a minute ago, and my refunds were sent to EFT! Check yours now!

I know! So cool to have control of $5,000!

If our EFT isn’t active yet (submitted one two days ago), will the refund be in a check or deposited into the account as soon as it clears.

And, will you know how much your refund is prior to getting the check if you DON’T have EFT?

If it’s not active, it will be issued as a check most likely. You can pick it up at University Hall. You can check the value on Bear Facts under Refunds, if I recall correctly.

Not sure what this means…

Are my bills paid? And will I get a refund?

Mike B, once the offer letter comes online again, check that. It’s always the most updated and correct. In case people are worried because they’re not getting their refunds yet, they still haven’t “cashed” my fin aid yet so no refund yet for me.

@calbear2012 and Mike B, how do you have that much finaid?.. did you guys accept your loans?, cuz i have a pretty low EFC, around $1800, but I only accepted grants. And my account balance is still in the $6,000 and my minimum due now is still around $2000.

Also did anyone’s minimum amount due now in the Quick Statement change? Mine changed from around $1000 to something around $2000? Is this for September’s housing?

My fin aid counselor said only a payment around ~ 800 dollars were “due” so I think you’re okay.

My refund hasn’t been sent for me yet… :(

Well I am a sophomore living off campus so they give me more to pay for my apartment and off-campus stuff. Freshman don’t get as much since the school allocates your money to pay for dorms.

MikeB, I am in a similar situation and called the billing office today. The amount shown on your Quick Statement is what you owe. You only get a refund if the amount is negative (which seems a little backwards to me). To pay it you go to E-Bill and click Pay Now, then enter the $898.75 and all your banking information.

If your CARS bill statement has all the housing bills until December listed then that actual payment of $898.75 isn’t actually due until like Nov/Dec because the housing is the last bill that your money is allocated to. If your housing bills aren’t listed out all the way to December, then that money is due now. It just depends on if you have a ridiculous amount of finaid or not whether or not you’re billing is slated for the entire semester.

I think that’s what the billing guy said, at least :)

WHat do these values mean?

Minimum Amount Due Now: $0.00
Minimum Due + Full Reg Fee: $0.00
Account Balance: $3,222.25

And does anybody know when we’ll get a refund to be able to pay for our textbooks?

Okay, that makes a little more sense…

Because two of my grants still haven’t paid to CARS…

The Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant hasn’t paid to CARS, which for me is $375.00

And the Cal Grant for $775.50 hasn’t been paid.

Any idea when these get paid?

okay, can someone please tell me where you got so many grants? I only received the Pell grant and the UG Grant. did you guys apply for extra grants somewhere?

Masterhammy, from what I understand, you will not be getting a refund. You owe $3,222.25.

Truucharms, Berkeley students have a variety of grants and scholarships depending on their financial need and/or accomplishments. They are listed on the FinAid website, here: [UC Berkeley Financial Aid Office: Undergraduates Types of Aid](http://students.berkeley.edu/finaid/undergraduates/types.htm)

So, should I go ahead and buy my textbooks then? I should have a Cal Grant coming that hasw a higher value than that $3,000

What? I thought the account balance was the refund?

If you can temporarily afford buying textbooks, go ahead and buy them. The money from Calgrant will come in later and make up for it. Probably in mid September. I am guessing they have not processed yours since they have been disbursing the aid for registration fees first and then will do the rest later. I just got a refund/CalGrant a couple days ago but that is because Cal Grant makes up a big portion of my aid.

I don’t have to do anything special for the Cal Grant, right? Mine is still not accepted

If the balance is a positive number, that means you OWE Cars that amount. It may not be due this month! Often you will find all the monthly charges for room and board listed, but they are only due each in the relevant month. The Cars balance includes them however. If it says minimum zero, don’t pay anything this month.

If the balance is negative, that is a credit and you will be refunded that excess.
