Regarding acceptance

Sorry, this is slightly out of context here. But recently I was notified that I had been admitted to UCI.. I thought the decisions were due only on March 27th... Has the release date been preponed or something? Someone else told me that the Regents decisions had been released earlier. But then I am an international student, so I dont think I qualify for Regents. So, I just wanted to know if there is any signigicance about getting the decision earlier?

Thanks!

Is this ltg shruthi?

I am sorry, but I didnt get what you meant......

UC campuses send out their decisions independent of one another; the earliness of one UC has no impact upon any other UC campus. UCB's decisions will still be posted in late March for freshmen, and late April for transfers.

(I think that was what you were asking.)

I think UC Riverside and Merced are usually the first ones to release their decisions on a rolling basis starting in February. UC Berkeley and LA are always the last at late-March (March 27 this year). The other UCs except San Diego are in early-March and San Diego is in mid-March from what I've gathered.

Regents awards are often given out to those ahead of when the school's "normally" send out acceptances.

Thanks!! ... But then again, isnt Regents supposed to be only for US citizens or permanent residents? Has anyone else received an acceptance to UCI btw?

Regents is not only for US citizens and permanent residents. I'm living proof (as are quite a few other people I know). It's rare to receive it as an international I'm pretty sure the number's in the low dozens overall, but it is possible.

Oh? I didnt know that.... I was reading through the scholarship's page on the brochure and thought it was that way...... Also, about the FAFSA, do internationals need to submit it directly to UC or to the fed processor?

There seems to be some confusion here. I'm talking about Regents at Berkeley, while you seem to be talking about it at UCI (where I'm afraid I don't have any personal information or knowledge). I do apologize if I mislead you; I'm honestly not familiar with UCI admissions, so I can't be of any help to you.
I do know (as I posted in another of your threads) that at Berkeley at least, if you're an international with a scholarship, you send in a FAFSA to Berkeley's scholarship office, but that's only if you have a scholarship.

No its ok :) I was just a little confused as to whether I needed to submit the FAFSA, as the scholarships arent announced till March end? And the deadline for FAFSA is on March 1st

I see, well if you're an international regents, you only receive information about it when you get your admissions decision (which in the case of Berkeley, would indeed be the end of March). Don't worry about the FAFSA deadline; as I mentioned earlier, if you get a scholarship, you send the FAFSA to the school, and the deadline for that will be intimated to you along with your decision.

shruthi- To answer your other question, I was accepted to UCI as well (today).
