I spoke with my assistant principal today and he was telling me that colleges do not accept AP test scores alone because they want to see that you have actually taken the class. Can someone confirm this? I know many students self-study AP courses without taking the actual class, which makes me think twice about what he said Lol. Can anyone confirm that colleges are fine with AP test scores alone and taking the course isn't necessary?

Your assistant principal is incorrect. I self-studied for multiple AP exams and got credit for them at two schools without any problem. If you’re still concerned, you could try calling/e-mailing the schools to which you’re applying to make sure they don’t have some weird policy about that type of thing.
