So now that I got accepted into UCLA for Classical Civilization, I still have alot to do under my belt. My primary problem is a class I had to drop with a W. It was Micro-economics, Econ 101. It was an unnecessary class as that I finished all my IGETC reqs, including a 60 minimum unit, including the pre-reqs for the major (which was nothing).

I skimmed over the application change section in the site, and it said that I had to report it as soon as the app. change site was up on April 28th. Now I'm doing extremely well in all my other classes with 4 A's all round. It was the stinging economics class that had me at a C. I didn't want that C to hurt my GPA, so I made the choice to drop it, much to the support of my transfer counselor. I'm not even confident if I can maintain the C with the workload I have for my other classes. What are the chances of having my application revoked over this? It isn't necessarily a HUGE deal for me, as that I can maintain everything on the contract as it is. It's the 'W' on the record that might hurt me.

Any considerations would help =(. Wouldn't want my UCLA hopes to die out.

I just got accepted yesterday as a Pre Bus-Econ major. I ended up dropping a Business(investments) course and now I will be having a W. My class is not part of IGETC nor is it transferable nor is it part of the Articulation Agreement.

I called you UCLA regarding this yesterday and they said to me “Oh then you should be fine, but you’ll still have to report it in if you are going to be accepted.”

I’m in the same boat and I don’t if this will make you feel any better, but knowing that I’m not the only I feel much better. I guess we’ll just have to wait till Tuesday to report it in. Even UCLA said that it should be fine, but the keyword is “should”.

I like to rationalize at this point and say as long our classes are still holding up then we should be fine. But I understand how you feel cause I’m starting to feel a bit scared.

Yeah it makes me feel guilty inside. Although I did inform Santa Barbara of my drop, and they took it extremely well. They did mention that I was on 60 units so failing a course would mean bad news. Fortunately, I’m far from it and going well, so I don’t have to worry. I don’t think there would be any problems after they notice the same thing.
