Okay, I got Virginia Commonwealth university and as of this year I am a sophomore. Recently I applied for housing and got a dorm that was $4000 more expensive then my last one for the year. Of course, my dining plan is optional now which saves me $3000 making it only $1000 more expensive (minus the cost for meals that im gonna have to pay out of pocket.) I applied for financial aid with an efc of 0293(if this helps, i see people talk about efc a lot) and I applied for FAFSA early in the year, around January 6th and recently made my corrections, applied for work study as well but my first year I never ended up doing work study and as a result was ineligible for the second semester (will I be eligible again for the coming year)? I was wondering if you guys knew if maybe my college would give me more aid to support this and if there were any NEED based scholarships out there I could apply for? Last year minus the work study I was given approx $15000, I was told I get more every year? I barely got off academic probation this semester putting me right at a 2.0 cumulitive so I'm good for financial aid but there are no real scholarships out there I can apply for, if anyone knew any needbased it'd be helpful or if they know if my college will support this?

You need to make an appointment with the Financial Aid Office at VCU, so that you can sit down with them and find out just exactly how your aid package works. They are the only people who know what is possible. While you are in that meeting, talk with them about how hard it was for you to find a Work Study job, and find out if they can help you locate one in the fall.
