is it still 2 recs. from two teachers and one from a guidance counselor?
I can't seem to find th information about that since the school updated it's site.

I applied and was accepted this year with the common application. http://www.commonapp.org/ The website is still showing the 04-05 app, but they'll probably update it early this summer. It's a good thing to get started on. Most of the top schools have started taking the common applications. It requires two recommendations from teachers and one from a guidance counselor, just like you said. Then, the Duke supplement, which you can also download from the commonapp site was pretty easy. I think there were a few biographical questions and maybe one additional essay. It wasn't bad at all.

thanks for the tips.
For the two teacher rec., does each teacher have two be from two really different subject (i.e. a science and english) or it be similar type of subjects?

I'm not sure if it truly matters how different the subjects taught by the teachers are. I sent a science and a history one last year because I had had the teachers for two years each and felt that they knew me well. I ended up sending two more recs... one from my drama teacher and one from my music teacher since both also knew me well (I also sent them because I had been deferred and felt that two more letters would improve my chances, not to mention that the drama and music ones would be more about extracurricular commitment while the first two were about academic commitment.) To make my point clear, choose two teachers based on how well you believe they know you and how well you think they can articulate this in a letter instead of on how different the subjects are that they teach.

Tony-- it doesn't really matter from which teachers you get your recs from. If you're strongest in classes that are similar in nature (which happened in my case) and you feel that these are the teachers that know you best and can write the strongest letters, go for it!

alright, thanks to all for their great inputs.
