Alright I'm asking a question for a sophmore in high school:

Say he gets a research internship this summer and does great in it etc...after the summer he will be a junior.

What steps should he take during the summer and junior year in order to get major awards from intel sts, isef, siemens etc...?

What did u genuises do?

anyone?.............please?

personally, I wasn't lucky enough to be in your position...I'm a junior and I'm starting research right now. If you do a decent project over the summer between sophomore and junior year, then look to expand it over your junior year and over the next summer --- a lot of serious projects have taken more than just a year. If your school has any kind of research/Intel classes, you should take them, since they force you to be organized and to work effeciently (at least for me that is the case with my Intel class)..
but you probably already knew this
good luck =)

Alright...but what should he do?

He will be applying to college when senior year begins...
He will be needing the siemens and intel awards, won't he?

What are the procedures exactly?

He will need to write up his research by the end of junior year?

Can any experienced researchers inform me of this?

A lot of people do significant research during the summer between junior and senior year. You have to write up a paper, yes, depends on when the deadlines are...you also have to complete a bunch of applications/essays/etc...

Alright, I just saw the siemens and intel pages (for sts and isef)...

I'll inform him of the deadlines and what he needs to do etc...THANKS ANYWAYS!
