does anyone know how NYU admits regarding to the SATs especially for the Stern school of business? also, are they taking into account the writing portion this year? what would you say is the mean SAT score to get into Sterns and if you don't "qualify" for that average, can strong ECs really make that much of a difference?

Admission to NYU, I hear, is primarily a numbers game, especially for Stern. A friend of mine got in ED this year with an 1860, but that was to CAS. I would say for Stern you need a minimum of 1900. And yes, they are taking into account the writing portion (I asked an admissions officer) so try and get the highest score possible on that section.

I know someone who got into Stern last year with a 1240 SAT, but he had really good EC's (in business). However, I think he was extremely lucky and for Stern, I would say you need an SAT score of 1350 or higher (old scale). If you consider other NYU colleges, I think your score can be a little lower (as long as your GPA is respectible).

Stern is very hard to get into. Acceptance rate for stern is like 19% and average SAT is 1420/1600 (saw it on wikipedia). They do count ECs, but i think Stern looks more at ur numbers. Even that might no be enough to get in, my friend whose SAT is 1480 and got a good GPA got rejected ED. I think NYU is counting reading and maths primarily, and just glancing at the writing section.
