I got an email like this from UGA bout a week ago. Just wondering if anyone got one too?

Dear *********,

Congratulations on your admission to the University of Georgia!

We are now deciding on scholarship awards for fall 2008. You may be eligible for a scholarship award, but we will need additional information about your family before we make final awards. Please respond to this email with the requested information as soon as possible but no later than April 4, 2008.

Along with your full name, please list all of your immediate family members' names. Immediate family members include Mother, Father, and all siblings.

With your immediate family members' name, also include if they have attended or are attending any type of college (technical, community college or university). If they have or are attending college, please list the name of the school or college.

P/S: I got in EA but this was the time they sent congratulation letter, odd?

@maleahhpluvr: I'm in-state. I don't think it's Charter coz i didnt apply for any scholarship. I think these are scholarships that they will choose automatically from the applicants poll.

I got the Charter scholarship maybe like a wk ago, and im in state. they didnt ask for any extra information, and i didnt apply for a scholarship...i think the Charter is given to ppl out of state too...maybe they're asking info for a different scholarship, like the Ramsey one (cant remember the name) or something...

I agree with you, howfarewevecome. I got the University of Georgia Charter Scholarship today, and I didn't apply for it either. It has an additional page with it, which asks if I am committed to UGA or not. However, I already sent my commitment deposit two weeks ago. I hope they've received it. Should I call them?

Hi, crisoliva. I don't quite understand what you're trying to say. Could you please elaborate? The first post you made on this thread, was that a charter scholarship e-mail that you got?

I got that letter saying that i MAY get some scholarship. Now that everyone has got informed bout their scholarship, I stil haven't heard anything :(

Call or write and tell them that you really want/need a scholarship in order to attend. Ask if there is anything else that you need to do. What could this hurt? They are not going to reject you for asking! But.. they may possibly look around for some $ for you....

I don't think it will be the Ramsey scholarships. Unless you are Einstein, you must apply for the Foundation/Ramsey scholarships. The Charter scholarships are handed out pretty much automatically from the Admissions office with GPA/SAT as the deciding factor.

I think they want to see if you are eligible for alumni/ financial need/ first in family to go to college/ ethnic minority scholarship $.

However, to receive even a slightly personalized letter from UGA is an accomplishment. You are probably a strong applicant they don't want to lose! Good Luck!

When did you hear that you got the Charter. My daughter has applied EA but she already has another offer that has a deadline of March 1. Just curious when she might hear.
