I had received an interview for UCSF's Biomedical Research Internship. The email says to "Make sure your appearance and dress are appropriate to the work place." Does this mean suit and tie or just collared shirt and dress pants?

Safety glasses, gloves, and closed-toe shoes?

Hahaa i like that. Any others?

I'm not sure about this specific internship, but when I had an interview with a potential mentor, I dressed in suit and tie. Yes it was out of place, the dress of people in the workplace is about business casual...maybe polo/collared shirt and khakis (these are the profs, lab techs/postdocs even less formal: t-shirt/shorts in summer).

So thats what I would go with. Business casual. Suit and tie may seem too formal.

Ok so like nice dress shirt, slacks and nice shoes?

any other opinions?

You already have good advice. :)
