Hi,I'm currently studying in De Anza College

According to UCSB TAG catalog for College of Engineering :-

"For the College of Engineering TAG, the following majors require completion of specific major preparatory courses:
Chemical Engineering B.S., Computer Engineering B.S., Computer Science B.S., Electrical Engineering B.S., and Mechanical Engineering B.S. Detailed major preparation articulation agreements, including the minimum required community college courses, can be found at www.assist.org under the "By Major" agreements between UCSB and California community colleges. Applicants must complete all required base preparation courses and three advanced preparation courses for the intended major, by the end of spring 2014. Major preparation requirements are subject to change without notice. Students who do not complete all required preparation courses will not be admitted to the selected major. "

and according to assist :-

http://web1.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=1&sia=DAC&ria=UCSB&ia=DAC&oia=UCSB&aay=13-14&ay=13-14&dora=CMPSC

The last segment which is "ADDITIONAL MAJOR PREPARATION COURSES" . Is this segment REQUIRED for TAG?I understand that TAG catalog states " applicants must complete all required base preparation courses and three advanced preparation courses for the intended major" which is the first and second segment of ASSIST....But I'm not sure if the last segment is REQUIRED for TAG.

Anyone can help me clarify?Besides I have sent them a mail.Just asking here as well :)

Let us know what you find out from them!

didn’t matter anyway,she said this year would be the last year for TAG for College of Engineering.So I didn’t proceed further

About the third segment,she said its recommended and not 100% required and many CC won’t have completed it,if any.You should complete what’s available though.

And also guys,anyone who has experience,assuming I completed all my major prep courses,the recommended prep courses and get maybe 3.6gpa and above,do I stand a good chance to transfer from cc to UCSB?Comp Sci Major btw

There is a long transfer thread that shows the stats for those who transfered, non TAG.

here is the transfer thread. <a href=“Official UCSB 2014 Transfer Thread - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>Official UCSB 2014 Transfer Thread - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums;

make sure you are looking at YOUR major though. Also their not taking TAG means they will be able to admit more on grades. IF that is actually the case then. Now they are taking 3.2 on TAG and have to turn down much much higher in gpa as a result, which is why they have been discussing changing from TAG or changing at least the gpa used.

I understand CS is not as waitlisted as ME at UCSB for what it is worth.
