So I've been doing a lot of research on IUB and I've definitely considered it the school I want to be at, but I'm nervous.

I took the September ACT knowing that a 31 superscored ACT would be the ticket for the Hutton Honors College and Kelley DA. However, tonight I know that my highest superscore is a 29.25. Now I've thought about taking the October ACT, but IUB seems adamant about the November 1 deadline. If I did take the October test and had ACT send the scores as I mark on the day of testing, would those scores still be considered?

I realize that my score probably wont improve that dramatically to where I will be at a 31. So, naturally, petitioning is the next step. How hard would it be for a student with a GPA of 4.275 and a 29.25 superscore on the ACT to be admitted into Kelley as a direct admit? I have copious amounts of leadership and even other opportunities that are pretty prestigious. I only want to attend as a DA student, otherwise I'm forced to look elsewhere.

Also, I really wanted the opportunity to apply to the Hutton Honors College. It's a great opportunity and I want it. I realize that you can petition for it and I was wondering how hard it would be for someone with my scores to be admitted through petitioning? Again, I have a lot of extracurricular prestige on my resume and I'm focused on attending IUB.

You have a 0% chance of a successful petition for Kelley, because they won’t let you petition since you’ll automatically get DA when you apply to IU. The requirements are a 3.7 and 29 ACT. That’s only true though if they take your 29 ACT. I know they superscore SAT, but I’m not sure about ACT.

A few years ago, the scores reported to Kelley were the scores recorded by the admissions office and forwarded to Kelley by the admissions office. If you meet the minimum requirements for, say, Kelley and/or Hutton, the Admissions office just forwarded the numbers they used for your admission to Kelley, Hutton, or whomever else’s minimum requirements are met. So if admissions superscores, they will sent that score to Kelley, and if the score is 29, then you will get direct admit if you meet other minimums, too.

You might call admissions and ask them how they do it. I’m pretty sure the score they figure for you in superscoring the ACT will follow you around the different schools within IU for scholarship purposes and that no one but admissions will be calculating your score.

I spoke too soon about DA to Kelley. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was eligible. They do say they superscore, I just need to make it a priority to send all my scores.

Any information about petitioning Hutton Honors? I have the GPA requirement surpassed greatly and great leadership/extracurriculars, but I am lacking 1.75 points on the ACT requirement. I just want to know how hard it will be for me to petition Hutton.

You might check the frequently asked section of their scholarship page. I remember reading something about the application being due by November 1 but about them being more lenient about the date of the scores being received.
