Regarding the things they try to sell you via mail...

So UCLA is totally taking advantage of my noob ass by sending advertisements. Did anyone find these things useful or are they just a waste of money? At the moment, I'm looking at the bedding package and the one with the student backup and laptop lock. I'm accustomed to sending my essays and stuff to my email all the time, but I was still wondering if any of these are good to get. If not, does anyone have a recommendation for a good laptop lock?

Thank you :D

is the bedding by rhl??? caz i heard the quality is horrible and your better off buying the things separately from stores like bed bath and beyond, target, etc.
i think the student back up is sorta useless but i havent even started school yet so i don’t really know. I do know that ucla does have good deals on macs and other apple products in the ucla store. ;)

Get your linens elsewhere: Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Walmart, etc.

UCLA discounts on Apple products are the same discounts found for any other university students. Apple dictates the student discounts.

But the beds are custom size.

They’re not “custom size”. They’re standard Twin XL size. Around this time of year, every major store that carries linens has sheets in that size.

Any commercial advertisement mailer purporting to be affiliated with UCLA, ASUCLA, or the UCLA Store is a scam.

Any advertisement claiming to offer “exclusive” custom-fit bedding is also a scam. All dorm beds are Twin XL, accessories for which are available everywhere.

Do not buy products from mail-order companies. They are notorious for offering incredibly shoddy, substandard material and terrible customer service (no doubt to deter people from attempting to return items).

Thanks guys! I’ll stay away from purchasing from the mailers :)
