Hey College Confidential folks,

I'm transferring out of my current college this year.
I attended my current institute for about an year, but been to another community college before that. Due to having bad grades at my previous institute, I decided not to add that school in my application and not to send the transcripts.

Would this affect me in any way?
If they find out about my other school, would that be a automatic rejection?
Do schools usually do educational background checks?

Thanks !

You are supposed to include all information about other schools attended. Was there a part on the applications you have submitted where you had to sign that you were submitting truthful information? You weren’t if you omitted schools. I also think that there is a way, using your social sec. number, that schools will be able to see where you have attended previously, especially if any fed. financial aid was involved. If you leave important information out, schools don’t know the real you. Why not just be honest and show your determination to do better, that you aren’t giving up and a quitter? What you have done is just show that you are a liar instead. Colleges don’t really like that…
