Regarding UVA residency

If I lived in Virginia my whole life, then moved to NY for a year, and then wanted to attend UVA, would I be considered in state or out of state?

Don't you think I should be considered in state because our family paid in state taxes for 17 years?

Btw, this is a hypothetical situation. I merely want to find out WHAT uva's policy is.

"Should" has nothing to do with it. It sounds like you will not be given instate consideration in the admissions process or when paying your bill. However, you should still contact the office of admissions.

Here's info from the Office of Virginia Status. Your situation is covered by two of the FAQs.
