Does anyone know what kind of stats you need to qualify as a Regent Scholar? I’ve read official UC Davis information online, but I am looking for real people and what kind of stats they had. Does it matter if you submit ACT vs. SAT scores? Thank you!

I’m a freshman Regents Scholar at Davis. I can’t speak for any other scholarship recipients, but these were my stats.

UC GPA: 4.2
SAT: 2160
ACT: 34

Frankly, I think test scores and GPA are the biggest factors. My extracurriculars were nothing special in high school, so I doubt that they were weighed heavily in my selection. I’d suggest taking both the ACT and the SAT and from there you could submit both scores or just the higher score. I don’t think there is a preference for one test or the other. Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

Cali - did you submit both your scores or just the ACT? Also, if you don’t mind, what is your major?

I submitted both of my scores. Admissions officers will only look at your highest scores, so you could submit both scores or just your best one and it won’t hurt your chances. I’m currently an animal science major.

CaliCollege42 - thanks for posting this. My D applied for 2014 and is waiting to hear. Her stats were very similar to yours (UC GPA 4.3, ACT 35) so maybe she has a chance. Out of curiosity, what is your major? My wife and I toured the campus this summer and were impressed.
