So according to the dates from the previous years, notifications for the Regents Scholarship should be coming out today, or sometime in the near future. Post here if you receive any news.
I got the Alumni Scholarship email today, but nothing about Regents. I doubt I’ll get the Regents invitation but the Alumni invitation is exciting enough for me!
A friend of mine told me today that her daughter already received the invitation to apply for the Regents Scholarship.
Does anyone know when the official notification date is?
Judging from past threads, it’s been the last Friday in January… So as far as I know it could be anytime now! I’m don’t think that it has happened yet; I’m sure there would already be several posts on here if it had. I’ve searched the Internet many times, though, and haven’t been able to find an official date… It could be today, who knows!!! Fingers crossed! :-SS
You are right. UCLA sent out the invitation on January 30th (Friday) of last year. And they only gave the applicants two weeks to apply. Admissions decisions was released and scholars was notified of their award in late March.
I just got an invitation to apply for regents.the email says:
We would like to encourage you to apply for the UCLA Regents Scholarship for the 2016-17 academic year.
Is this equivalent to a likely letter? Although it also says:
Please note that this invitation to apply for the Regents Scholarship does not constitute an offer of admission.
My understanding is that you can be very confident that you will receive an acceptance letter. You are in the top 1.5% of applicants…very impressive! Congratulations! 
My S got the invitation today.
Have there been a lot of cases where people were invited to apply for Regents but didn’t get admitted? I’ve found some on CC but is this a common occurrence?
@Archlion would you mind telling me where you got those cases from on CC? Just wondering if they mentioned any circumstances particular to them that prevented them from being admitted.

Both of those posts you used as “evidence” are hearsay^hearsay. A random person on CC who HEARD a friend who …blahblahblah… something something.
I don’t believe either story. Could easily be two people who are hurt about not getting admitted, so they made up some accomplishment for themself. Or, the two CC posters just made up stories about “some friend” entirely, just to screw with the thread and scare future people (like you).
Do not believe those rumors. It is extremely rare to be rejected with that invitation! Believe me! Those who are invited have exceptional stats.

When’s the deadline to submit the Regents Scholarship application?
Were all invitations for Regents sent out today? Or is there still hope?
