Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship

I received an email and physical mail a few days ago about my candidacy for the Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship. I've seen all over the place that if you are invited to interview, like I have, that you have been accepted to Berkeley. However, I contacted one of the people listed in the email and she said that this was not true. But I'm thinking that she has to say that. Do anyone know for sure if receiving the email guarantees you have been accepted? I've also read that once you go to interview, the first thing they tell you is that you have been accepted.

Anybody have a definite answer??

You know about the same as us. Past years have all gotten accepted. No one knows about this year, but to be chosen to interview is a big honor only given to 1000ish/60,000 applicants. That in itself means you are probably berkeley material.

I was just a little worried because my test scores are low (1950 SAT & 30 ACT) and I didn’t think I would make it though the admissions process since I applied as undeclared engineering. How I got chosen for an interview is beyond me haha.

ryanpeden94 As far as I know, only 4.0 received Regent email. Even your SAT/ACT are low, did you get 4.0?

Yeah my overall weighted is over 4.0 and my UC GPA is like 4.2-4.3.

So you’re saying that ANYONE with a 4.0 got one? If only 1000ish people get them then that wouldn’t make sense because way more than 1000 people apply to Berkeley with 4.0+ GPA’s and SAT scores that top mine.

I meant your UWGPA. Is it 4.0?

No, 3.95ish. My only B was in Art though haha.

which grade you got B? in 9th grade? it it is, it is ok

Yes, freshman year.

9th grade is not counted in UC schools

You don’t need an unwieghted 4.0. I have a 3.8 something and I was tagged for Regents. We’ll see if I get it though…

But you don’t know if we are already accepted?

There are plenty of people who aren’t 4.0 unweighted and got Regents.

Then I would say “close to 4.0”. Definitely they won’t give to under 3.7

I have an unweighted 4.0 (9th - 12th), 2300 SAT, 800 Math II SAT II, 780 Bio SAT II. But I didn’t get the Regents email from UCB or UCLA. I read the Regents scholarship is administered through the financial aid office, even though financial need is not a factor. So, I’m wondering if you had to apply for financial aid to be considered?? Did anyone receive the Regents email who didn’t apply for financial aid?

My UWGPA is 4.0 (WGPA is 4.63) and I didn’t get the Regents email from UCB or UCLA or even UCI.
In 10th grade (AP Calc BC - 5, AP Chem -5)
In 11th grade (AP Phys C -5 & 5, APUSH - 4, AP Eng - 3)
My EFC is 945. (not much)
Only my SAT is low.

So I understand that around 2000 are chosen to apply and around 200 end up getting the scholarship. Is 200 the number of regent’s scholars that commit to Cal or is it the total number of the chosen?

Thank you!

commit…

Does anyone know the yield rate for regents scholars?

Yield rate’s typically slightly lower than half.
