I got the email 4 years ago. Yes it means you are accepted to Berkeley :)

And I never applied for any financial aid, so that is not a factor.

Caiacs, where did you get that number? It seems pretty low.

^^^^^^last yr, we were told that 1000 were chosen as finalists/invited for interview and 400 were supposedly chosen. out of those 400, they are hoping that some 200 will enroll, mostly bec these are the students who also get accepted into HYPSM, and other Ivies, as well as the ones being offered top merit scholarships on topnotch univ. last yr, they said they have some 800 rc scholars in the campus (so roughly 200/class).
(this info is based fr what we were told by the staff at the interview last yr).

alrighty thanks (:

Have all candidates already been notified or is it in waves?

they are notified all at once by email, then packet comes soon after. hence this yr, last 2/10.

Today (2/26), I just got an email from UCB, that I have been selected for Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship. :)

Not sure where caiacs got that number, as I don’t think those statistics are even released to the public in the first place. But I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s around the correct percentage - a 50% yield is pretty great considering the quality of the selected applicants.

Didn’t get it :(

Did anyone go to the interview yet?
What are the questions like?

Just did my interview. It was very conversational and really nothing to worry about.

^What questions did they ask? Did they ask you about your application (essays, ec’s, classes, etc.)? I heard they really try to convince you to go to Berkeley.

Polomolok: Did they tell you that you are admitted? Did you receive an “admitted” pin like in the previous years? Were the questions mostly from your application or was it random?

I interviewed this morning. The first thing they tell you when you check in is that you have been admitted.

As for the interview, mine was very conversational as well. We talked about many of the unique activities I am involved in as well as my application essays. We also spend quite a bit of time talking about her research and undergraduate research in general.

How long do the interviews generally last?

Does anyone else want to share their interview experiences? I am so nervous for this one (far more so than with my other interviews, because it’s with a faculty interviewer and I don’t know what to expect). Will they ask me questions about Cal?

idk how this one works (mine is on Sun), but there was a comparable interview for USC scholarships. It was really chill since they already think you are a top applicant (you got accepted early!). Just do the normal interview with an emphasis on how berkeley is the right place for you. Some people bring rec letters too.

Anyone else want to share their experiences?

They’re supposed to be 30 minutes.

Mine is tomorrow in LA :)

^ Same, I might see you there!

Edit: As in mine is today.
