Regents' at Berkely and Rejected from LA

That is unfortunate. Where does that leave the high achieving kids from CA, who can’t really afford private? I know applicants are looked at “in the context” of your family background/school. But kids from “supposedly affluent” backgrounds also have their own set of challenges like the kids from lower performing schools.</p>

<p>Last year, guy from my school (CA) got accepted to Cornell, but rejected Cal and UCLA. He said he had worked too hard and did not want Davis…(you know the prestige thing…whatever that is worth). Finally parents took a loan for Cornell.</p>
