Regents at Davis!

@solid

What do you mean. I never got an email from UCD about regents. Was that only for CCC students?

Ahhh, I dunno about USC. I’ve really always had my heart with UCLA, haha. What makes you say USC, shellbelltaylor?

@solid You got such an email? I didn’t receive a Regents email. Bullocks, maybe I can appeal…

because it’s been my dream school since I was 12 haha

I didn’t get an E-mail. I just looked it up and saw that they required a letter of rec.

shellbelltaylor: but…why? haha, I mean, I think I’ll at least give USC a tour. I can’t help shaking the feeling that UCLA is the better school.

despite this being a UC forum, i second what shellbell said ;)

All I know is that I never knew that regents for davis would require a letter of rec, and it makes me mad :(

I so think I would’ve gotten it

ernily: Why?! I at least need some good reasons as to why I should consider USC over UCLA.

amazing academics, amazing athletics, amazing greek life, USC alumni connections are amazing…

Well, I hate greek life so that’s a big turn off for me. I’d rather go to a school where I, as a dude not in a frat, can get into a bunch of fun parties.

But sure, amazing academics/athletics, but UCLA has that too!

Ucla > usc :)

depending on your major, usc could greatly increase your chances of securing a coveted job with its extensive/reputable alumnus network. also, its buildings are some of the nicest pieces of architecture i’ve seen, specifically the school of cinematic arts. the price of attendance is definitely a deterrent though.

yeah its SOO expensive… but if I thought I had a chance I would have applied and sold organs to pay haha

Well, an argument about the beauty of the environment and buildings won’t sway me, because I find UCLA’s campus stunning.

I agree though that the alumni network seems like a plus. I’m a computer science major though, and I’m not sure if that’ll make a huge difference for me. As I understand it, UCLA is very respected in engineering fields.

whoops double post

realistically, i doubt i’d fit in well with the “quintessential usc student.” i’m not entirely sociable and i’m definitely not an athlete. okay, fine just go to ucla!

Well, on the expensive note: it is too expensive for me to even seriously consider right now. They put my “parental contribution” as like $12,000 dollars, which is ridiculous. My parents make a grand total of under $35,000 a year. Actually, their divorced, and my custodial parent makes under $15,000. So…where is that money supposed to come from anyways? I sent them an E-mail. It’s not even worth considering unless they match UCLA’s financial aid, considering I’m leaning towards UCLA anyways, haha.

I really don’t think USC is worth it anymore. I wasn’t able to turn in my application before the scholarship deadline, so I just applied for giggles. I got a spring grade request, but I don’t even know if I want to waste my time haha.

Congrats arcadefire! When I logged on this morning and saw this, I checked my financial aid package at Davis. To my surprise, I got it too. I am thrilled!

^ Stats, if you don’t mind?

EDIT: Nevermind, I just saw them in your post history. Congrats!
