<p>Okay, well keep in mind that I’m only a recently admitted student, but our class valedictorian this year was the only one in school history to be nominated for it. I mean, it’s not like being named a Rhodes Scholar, but it obviously carries some weight, and you’ll get attention when you need it, which otherwise might be hard to come by at Cal.</p>
<p>Only 1,000 kids out of 44,000 applicants are invited to interview for it. So prestige-wise, you tell me. ;)</p>
<p>As for med-school, whether they know what it is or not will depend on how familiar they are with Cal. However, “Regents Scholar-UC Berkeley” can NEVER look bad on a med-school app. Usually, you can explain what it is at the bottom of the app or something too. IMO, it can only help you.</p>
