<p>Worthless isn’t really the term to use. It’s just that graduate schools as a whole don’t tend to care about things you did 5-8 years ago.</p>

<p>The national merit scholarship is similar. Colleges don’t see any results beyond semifinalist, so winning the scholarship makes no difference in your admissions. Graduate schools don’t really care about it because it is based on something you did in your junior year. Yet it is still quite prestigious and very respectable.</p>

<p>Not everything in life is about getting into med school. I would give a lot for that scholarship.</p>
