Hi guys. From what I understand, students only need to take 2 science regents to pass, correct? I have already taken my living environment/biology and chemistry regents (I received a 89 on chem and a 94 on biology) in previous years so I plan on skipping my physics regents scheduled for the following month. However, some students in my class told me that if I don't take the physics regents at all, I will be given a C in the class... Is this true? I always thought that the regents was separate from the actual class and therefore it wouldn't have an effect on our grades. So what should I do? Any help will be much appreciated.

You need 2 sciences for a regular Regents diploma, and you need 3 for the Advanced Regents Diploma. So technically, you don’t need Physics but at least in my school, your Regents grade counts as the “fifth quarter” and it factors in as 1/5th of your final grade for the class, so it’ll be averaging a 0 into your grade. Confirm with your school whether or not they do this.

I was considering doing the same because I have 3 regents’ in Science already prior to my Physics, (Earth Science/Living Environment/Chem) but somebody told me this. So yeah just take it just in case, imo.

I’ll confirm it with my school and if not I’ll probably just take the exam like you said. Thanks!

Regents is the NY thing to graduate, right?
