Regents Invitation for Transfer Students

Has anyone applying as a transfer student received a letter inviting them to apply for the Regents Scholarship? I'm not sure if they are out yet.

I haven't got one; they say the "official" time they come out will be May 1st!!! But hopefully sooner.

UCLAs are out but I don't think UCB's are yet. If you hear a date for notification pass it on.

will do. Thanks for the info.

bump........

My friend got the regent's already....if that means anything.

He was a shoe in for Regents anyways, being Valedictorian and all.

Was he/she a transfer student or a freshman applicant?

How does a transfer student qualify to apply for the Regents Scholarship? Is it just GPA? And what factors are taken into account for the actual awarding of the scholarship?

walnut: your friend transfer or freshman?

I heard that we will be notified when freshman are notified of their acceptances which would be March 30. Do you think there is any truth to this? I just hope I get Regents as a transfer because I have worries about financial aid.

lostincode: Transfer applicant

"He was a shoe in for Regents anyways, being Valedictorian and all."

How can a transfer student be a val?

I really hope we don't have to wait for transfer regents notification as long as the website says. I know Freshman were notified much earlier than the timeline that was presented online.

Oh and I know that as a transfer you must have a 4.0 GPA and I think they read your essays again etc.

well if walnut's friend isn't lying

you didn't get regents XD

neither did i or sweetny :'(

Don't worry, I saw it with my own eyes, it's real. It was sent from UCLA.

"How can a transfer student be a val?"

Why can't a transfer student be a valedictorian?

Because a valedictorian is the top graduate...did your friend go to a two year school? I am not doubting you by the way. I just know plenty of people on here with 4.0's from cc's who did not mention anything about val. ooo It is from UCLA I thought you meant he was sent one from UCB (which is what this thread is about...)

Lostincode: Also since I only have a 3.94, I don't think I had a chance to begin with. :(

Thanks for the clarification I got the regents invite from UCLA too. They sent theres out early I don't think UCB has sent them out for transfers yet.

Actually, I didn't really know what Regents was, and just posted what I saw without looking too much into it. I later found out that it was college specific, so it's my fault for the confusion.

My friend and I go to Pasadena City College, and they offer two year degrees. I think it's called the AS degree.

Hey ya'll, i decided to chime in here since i applied to berk too lol. Most community colleges DONT RANK. So being a valedictionarian at a CC is very fishy.
