Damn I have an EFC of 431 but I only got Chancellors Scholarship. :(

How much did they give you?

Also, I'm not sure which one is better. If you look here - http://fao.ucsd.edu/Scholarships_UCSDScholarships_EnteringFreshman_01.htm, Chancellor's gives different benefits - Study Abroad Program and Faculty Mentor Program - where Regents gives graduate library privileges. The other stuff is the same.

I got around 17K in grants and 3050 in loans.

Here's my little anecdote: when completing the FAFSA, my mom put in UC Berkeley, UCLA, and University of San Diego as my schools (along with a few others). A few days after the March 2 deadline, we noticed the error, but just shrugged it off as UCSD was my safety safety school. Now I don't know if the actual award amount will change, but I got $2000 from Regents and $21K from the Jacobs School of Engineering. It's amazing; my EFC is higher than what I will be paying should I choose UCSD (I've started considering it now) and I'm getting full-ride without having submitted a FAFSA to the school. I'm going to e-mail them to see if I can put in my FAFSA and maybe get a bit more from Regents (I doubt it, as Jacobs gave me so much) and also ensure that I will get $23K a year as long as I keep a certain GPA.

Damn practically a full ride...

wt f.. I'd rather have a Chancellor's ): Study abroad and grad school are things I really want to do

Yeah. It's pretty amazing. Does anyone have any links to pages about the Jacobs School of Engineering Scholarship?? $21,000 a year for four years just seems too good to be true.

Also, about Regents: should I file a FAFSA next year and have my EFC be under the tuition fee, will my Regents Scholarship for that year go up, or did I need to file it this year to get the extra-money benefit for the next four years?

theantithesisof, I totally agree. Well, anybody can study abroad regardless of whether they're Chancellor's or not, it just looks like they'll help you out more if you are. But the Faculty Mentor would have been nice. Oh well, I probably won't end up at UCSD anyway.

hahaha csquare -- me neither, but that doesn't mean we can't be bitter about it (;

I'm only getting $2000 for Regents too, and it's all they're giving me... -.-

You'd think that they'd do a bit of testing before releasing their software: http://img479.imageshack.us/img479/3738/nullposk7.png
NULLPO'D

this isnt cool, i want chancellor over regents especially since i didnt do fafsa

plus how many people get regents
and how many get chancellors?

On the financial aid site it says that you need to submit a FAFSA to get a Chancellor's Scholarship. Also, did anyone get both Regents' and Chancellor's?

SQL - Is it even possible to get BOTH Chancellor's and Regents?

By default you get both at Berkeley (measly $1K per year >_> ), but at UCSD it might be different. I really think that they limit your scholarships so you don't get too much; I think I would have been a good candidate for the $10K (total) Computer Science and Engineering scholarship, but I ended up getting the $86K (total) Jacobs scholarship, so they decided that anymore would have resulted in my having made a profit from going to college (which would have been totally awesome for too many reasons). In your case, you filed the FAFSA correctly, so you got extra from the Regents scholarship, and so they figured that you didn't really need the Chancellor's one as well.

Either way, you're happy, right!

ok boys and girls, let see if we get the UCLA and Berk regents :)
cross your fingers

But I don't know if either of them can really compare financial aid-wise to UCSD.

This has been addressed earlier, but there was no answer. Do you guys see your scholarship info when you just click Continue under the My Financial Aid Preliminary Award Notice link? Because all I have there is the UCSD and federal grant and loan stuff, and nothing about scholarships. Does that mean I didnt get any?

I'm not sure since I'm judging from my own page and haven't seen anyone else's... but I assume that if Regents doesn't appear on the PAN link then you probably didn't receive it. Sorry :(

Did anyone get Regents and NOT get invited to Scholar's Day?

i got into ucd, uci, ucsb and ucsd
i was hoping to make my decision upon whichever school gave my the best scholarship. but as of right now i dont think any of them gave me anything. i was under the impression that a lot of people dont pay the full college tuition amount and thats the reason why i was expecting to get something. also i didnt apply for the fasfa because im sure that i wouldnt qualify for financial aid.
this sucks.

oh and why did we apply for those scholarships on the uc application? when do those decisions come out? do they mail them to you?
