Regents Scholarship

If you are a regents scholar, do you get a special diploma or any special marking on your transcript? And those who are/were regents scholars, can you attest to the apparent benefits and prestige of being a regents scholar?

I dated a girl who was a Regents scholar. Guaranteed housing and early registration was amazing. Although I was lucky enough to enroll as a 1st-year sophomore (lots of AP credits and some UCI courses), she still had a better Tele-Bears date and got all the classes she wanted :(

does anyone else care to comment on the regents scholarship?

Regents’ Scholars at Berkeley do not have priority enrollment. Unless you have significant financial need, the scholarship provide very few benefits.
As for the prestige factor, it’s obviously very prestigious. However, by the time you graduate from Berkeley, the prestige will be long forgotten since you’ll be judged by how well you did at Berkeley and not at your highschool.
The kid who struggles in highschool and barely manages to get in Berkeley, but graduates with top honor, will likely be viewed more favorably by prospective employers and professional school adcoms than the Regents’ Scholar who achieves the same.

Hm, I guess I’m showing my age. Back in 2002, the Regents scholars got priority tele-bears :frowning: My bad.
