Regent's Scholarship?

I was just wondering how useful the Regent's Scholarship is at Berkeley. I am interested in the idea that you will have your own professor to watch over you, but I was also accepted to other schools, of which I am highly interested in. In truth, the only thing that is keeping me still interested in Cal is that I got the Regent's Scholarship and I want to know whether it is worth it to go to Cal mainly because of that honor. (that's not to say that Cal's academics or anything else doesnt rule :)

Essentially, the question is this: Is the Regent's Scholarship worth going to Cal for or should it only be a minor factor? Btw, money is no issue.

Bump. 10 char. :)

Regents does offer some benefits, but not as many as you might expect from its selectivity. It shouldn’t be your sole reason for going to Berkeley.

It depends on your alternatives. But for most big name private schools, I honestly can’t see why you would need a mentor considering how much exposure you get from professors on a regular basis.

Thanks guys. Well, my alternatives are JHU, Cornell, and Rice, so the decision I have to make is kind of tough. That’s why Im being so nitpicky about the Regent’s Scholarship.

Anyone else have any opinions? Thanks.

What is your major? If it is Bussiness or Engineering definetely Berkeley.

You can see a comprehensive list of program benefits at [UC Berkeley Financial Aid Office: Undergraduates Types of Aid Scholarships Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship](http://students.berkeley.edu/finaid/undergraduates/RCbenefits.htm)

Thanks guys. I am planning to major in Engineering, but Im unsure of which one yet. As for the regent’s scholarship, is there anyone here that is a regent’s scholar? Anyone have some first hand experience with what the scholarship does for you? I know it lists a lot of things, but I wanna know whether they are actually useful or just for show.

Berkeley engineering> Rice, JHU, and Cornell. This should be a no-brainer.
