Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anybody knew the statistics for the Regent's Scholarships offered to people who interview? I've read posts claiming that ~200/~1000 interviewees are offered it, but I've also seen different numbers.

Best of luck to everyone that's interviewing and to everyone awaiting admission,

200ish people accept it. My guess is at least 500 people are offered it (that would be 40% yield which is still high)

So that ~200 number is the amount that take the award and choose to attend?

I’ve heard all sorts of stuff. From 2000 interview invitations, and 600 people offered scholarships. To 200 people offered scholarships and 1000 people invited to interview. I personally think that the number of offered scholarships is closer to 600, because there are 200 Regent’s scholars per class level, and you have to imagine that a fair number of the people offered Regent’s go to Ivies instead.

Just got the letter in the mail. It said nearly 2000 are offered to interview, and around 200 entering freshman receive the scholarships. I’m assuming that that only includes students who are going to Berkeley, because it would seem weird to give scholarships out to only 10% of interviewees.

this is what we were told last year by the staff at my S interview last year (so these are last yr’s stats). 1000 were selected as candidates, around 400 are selected/offered regents scholarships, they expect some 200 out of those 400 to chose Cal, and currently (then) there are around 800 regents scholars in the campus.
